Hey Everyone! Last week Threadless released a 16-shirt collection of designs by ME! They came all the way to Portland to throw a launch party and film this little spot about me! Coolness overload!

The launch party was also TONS of fun! I did a large drawing there that was raffled off at the end of the night!
I’m trying something new! I’m going to start “Freebie Friday” – where I give away an original illustration to a random fan! I just finished painting this one and I will be giving it away via my Facebook page tomorrow (6/8/12). What do you have to lose? Go throw your name in the hat 🙂
Here are the four final illustrations I’ve been working on the past few weeks. They are a combination of watercolor, India ink, and colored pencil. I’m not sure if the book they are a part of will ever get off the ground, but we’ll see 🙂
Most times when I have to do a value comp it means I open up Photoshop. But with my recent work on my children’s book illustrations I decided to go totally analog. Here are some pictures I snapped while working. They are done in charcoal, graphite and Ebony Pencil.

Today I was working on another watercolor test and I decided to snap some pictures along the way. First I layed down a light yellow wash over the whole thing – to help unify the colors.
Then I start painting in local colors.
After that I add some shadows and value where needed.
Then it’s just a matter of fine-tuning,
To finish it all off I work with colored pencil.
I’ve been testing out a ton of watercolor paper over the past two days. I thought I might as well post my little demo paintings. I’m really excited to start working on traditional stuff again!
